Bicycle Park
During the summer of 2007 there were a series of discussions and meetings with interested bike park enthusiasts. A general design concept of the bike park was the result of these discussions. The bike park will be similar in features to a pump track in that it will have rollers and berms as well as various types of jumps. The continuous loop within the bike park will allow bike enthusiasts to race or perform tricks while riding the course, or "pumping" the rollers and berms.
In the fall of 2007 the District entered into an agreement with Aspen Earthmoving, a local construction company, to accept fill dirt at the bike park site in exchange for Aspen Earthmoving forming the dirt into the designed bike park.
The bike park is located at the far west end of the park southwest of the tennis courts. This evolving project will continue in the coming years to excite bike park users of all ages.
Skate Park
The idea of a skate park has been conceptually approved by Eagle County. Although it was not included in the first phase of Crown Mountain Park the skate park design firm, Architerra, has been employed by the District to develop a design for a "street plaza" complete with a 4'5' drop, banks, ¼ pipes, pyramids, a fun box, rails, stairs, ledges, blocks, gaps and walls.
The next step towards realization of a skate park will be to budget for construction drawings and actual construction of the skate park. The skate park will be located to the southwest of the Eagle County community building, approximately 40 yards from the sheriff's department. The current estimate price for the facility is at around $750,000 and funding is now being solicited for the project.
