Passive Recreation
The passive activities to be enjoyed at Crown Mountain Park are limited only by your imagination. Whether you are picnicking, flying a kite, walking the trails, or reading a good book; it can be done under the splendid view of Crown Mountain.
The dog park is situated at the far west of the park with an adjacent parking lot for access. This facility is divided into two runs, enabling the ability to separate sizes or temperaments of different dogs. Owners are asked to follow the specific dog park rules. Water is available for the pets, as well as the owners at this facility. An irrigation system, as well as trees, is part of the landscape concept to keep things on the cooler side.
Trails network the park in a variety of widths and surface types. The main loop is 10' and 8' concrete, which serves as an emergency vehicle and service path for the entire park. This is a perfect path for walking a quick loop of the park at lunch time, learning to ride a bike, or accessing equipment to the amphitheatre or ball fields.
The soft trails are composed of recycled concrete and gravel and make use of an ever increasing popular alternative for lovers of soft trails. These walking/jogging friendly trails will be found throughout passive recreation areas of the park and along the northern perimeter.
An amphitheatre and pond are planned in a future phase of the park and have received approval during the Planned Unit Development (PUD) of the park in February of 2005. The amphitheatre is in the conceptual drawing stage and will compliment the other buildings in the park nicely. The pond will act as a wonderful backdrop to a concert in the park on a summer evening and is greatly anticipated. Funding on these projects is needed to continue at this time.
