Sports Fields
Currently, the design of the sports fields within Crown Mountain Park includes two ball fields and two soccer fields, although three soccer fields can be accommodated by re-alignment of the fields. This was accomplished by providing a green space around the fields that would allow for re-arrangement.
The ball fields are designed for a variety of age groups and sports activities. The northern most ball field best serves the younger ages, whereas the southern ball field measures out well for the older age groups. Both fields will have base anchors allowing use for most age groups for both baseball and softball.
Use of the ball fields by organized groups is by reservation only, and a request for practice and game schedules must be honored before any use of the field by those organizations. Lining of the fields, dragging of the infields, ordering and use of porta-toilets, litter clean-up, and other specific needs to the respective sports, is the responsibility of the organizations involved and must be coordinated through the Crown Mtn Park & Rec District office. Use fees have not been incorporated yet into the fee structures for the use of the sports fields so it is the hope of the District that the sports organizations using the fields will contribute to the betterment of the fields.
Design of the sports fields allows close distance to parking lots and the concrete main trail loop. Drinking fountains and the restroom building are in close proximity.
A GOCO (Great Outdoors Colorado) grant was awarded to the District, enabling the building of a contemporary and functional backstop and dugouts for ball field #1. The design includes heavy gauge rusted steel poles and 10 gauge black vinyl fencing.
