Active Recreation
Active recreation within the park presently includes tennis courts, basketball, volleyball, and horseshoes, as well as the sports fields.
The tennis courts are situated at the west side of the park and just to the east of the dog park. The courts are adjacent to a parking lot, and have a drinking fountain nearby for tennis enthusiasts' convenience. The courts have an asphalt base with regulation surfacing and delineations. Vinyl covered chain link fencing and nearby electric outlets further compliment this facility.
To the east of the tennis courts, across the esplanade, is a regulation basketball court. Asphalt surfacing and regulation delineations are again standards used to give a professional feel. The basketball court is also adjacent to a nearby parking lot and there is allotted room for another court in a later construction phase.
There are two volleyball courts located in the northern part of the park which is designated as a picnic area and more of a passive recreational area. This area is bordered by Valley View Road to the north and the main park road to the south. The volleyball courts are regulation sized and utilize sand for play surface.
Three horseshoe pits are directly south of the volleyball courts in the expansive picnic area. All one needs are a set of horseshoes and a few friends to fill in the blanks for a perfect summer afternoon.
The approved master plan includes another tennis court, another basketball court, a skate park, and a BMX course. These will be built in later phases as financing becomes available.
