Proposed Splash Park & Batting Cage at
Crown Mountain Park
Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District (CMPRD) is considering adding a "splash park" water feature and batting cage to the park, as well as making improvements to the restrooms. CMPRD has applied for a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) to fund these improvements and will know in June 2012 whether it has been awarded funding. If a grant is received, installation of these features would likely begin right away, and could be ready for use in late summer.

Mid Valley Recreation Center
In 2007, a group of Mid Valley residents had a dream...a vision that their children, friends and neighbors could gather for fun and exercise at a nearby recreation center that no longer meant driving long distances to either end of the Roaring Fork Valley. That dream became the proposed Mid Valley Recreation Center, whose fate is now before the Eagle County government.
The Mid Valley Recreation Center at Crown Mountain Park is envisioned as a community gathering place for the 10,000 residents of the mid valley. It has been designed to fit within the landscape at Crown Mountain Park. Adjacent to soccer, softball field and trails, it will offer a variety of affordable fitness and recreation programs for all ages.
Facility and Programs
- Indoor swimming area with lap and recreation pools and hot tub
- Kayaking, water polo, water aerobics, scuba diving and more
- Multi-purpose gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, martial arts, gymnastics, indoor soccer, zero gravity, badminton, dances, movies, birthday parties and more
- Weight training and cardio facilities
- Fitness/aerobics/dance studio/ spin classes
- Indoor jogging track
- Rock climbing wall
- Game room
- Child watch room
- Meeting and event rooms (for parties, community events, etc.)
If the Mid Valley Recreation Center application is approved by Eagle County, the Crown Mountain Board will determine when to place the question on the ballot. Voters would be deciding on a $25 million construction bond and a $500,000 subsidy for operations and maintenance of the Center. The total estimated cost to taxpayers in the Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District would be $3.26/month per $100,000 of a home's market value or $16.30/month for a $500,000 home.
